When the castle’s owner “Nikaido Moriyoshi” died in Tenshou Era 9th year (1581), the back room’s “Mahayana Bhuddhism Member” became the castle owner and the castle’s “Suda Morihide” carried out practical work.
From this time increasing conflict with Mr. Date has brought the Masamune Date to attack Sukagawa Castle, but “Satake Yoshishige” visited reinforcements to repel this attack. In the 15th year of Tensho (1587), Aizu ‘s Nen clan and Nikaido clan jointly repulsed the political forces, despite being attacked again by the Date house. However, gradually inside of the Nikaido clan weakened, parting forces to faction Date and Satake faction.

The Aizu territory of Date house was forfeited and given to “Gamo Ujisato”. The land of Sukagawa was also incorporated into this. In Sukagawa Castle, “Tamaru Tomonao” was appointed under the crown.
Keicho 3rd Era (1598) Uesugi Kanakatsu was transferred from Echigo to Aizu, and the villagers’ “Kurita Kunitoki” reigned at Atagoyama Castle based on Atagoyama Castle. Keicho 5th Era (1600 years) Since the battle of Sekigahara, Uesugi family is reduced to 300,000 jewels to Yonezawa Castle, and “Gamo Hideyuki” will be the lord of Aizu.
Kani 4th Era (1627 years) When Gamo clan was transferred, “Kato Yoshiaki” became the lord of Aizu. At this time Sukagawa Castle became abandoned.
Currently the Atagoyama Castle Ruins are being serviced as parks and the Sukagawa Castle ruins are compartmentalized as an urban area and there are not much remnants left.
