[Description]
Toishi castle is the mountain castle that was in Ueno, Ueda City now in Nagano Prefecture. Also referred to as Tameishi castle under another name.
The timing of the castle is unknown, but it is said that it was built as a castle of Mr. Masuda in the neighboring Sanada Township.
Sanada is from a sea clan, and the Sea of the Okinawa broke up to Ueno Country in the “Battle of Unnotaira” which broke out between Nobutora Takeda, Yoshikiyo Murakami, Yorishige Suwa and Munetsuna Unno. The grinding castle became a castle governed by Yoshikiyo Murakami, who was appointed as a castle owner such as Mitsuuji and Yamada Kokusei.
Tenmon 10th year (1541), Kai’s “Takeda Nobutora” was exiled, Takeda Harunobu (Shingen) and Takeda family head replaces Harumi, Harumi attacked Suwa Yorishige and began invading Shinano.
Harunobu Tenmon 17 years (1548), In the battle of Uedahara “, he was defeated by” Murakami Yoshikiyo”but in July of that same year” Battle of Shiojiri Pass”, when “breaking” Ogasawara time “, he controlled all around Matsumoto plain. Meanwhile, in the Tenmon 19th year (1550), Harumi attacks Murakami again and attacks “Toishi Castle”, but here too, it is defeated before “Murakami Yoshikiyo”.
Later, the capture of the Toishi castle was commanded “Yukitaka Sanada”, and Yukitaka succeeded in the collapse of the castle in May by Tenmon 20 (1551). Thanks to this accomplishment, it was given the land of Sanada Township which is the old former of Yukitaka including the Toishi castle. Yoshikiyo Murakami lost the castle at once, weakened the power at once and abandoned the “Katsurao Castle” of the main castle and departed from Echigo’s Nagao Kagetora (Uesugi Kenshin) and escaped.
In the battle of Sekigahara in Keicho 5 (1600), “Masayuki Sanada” attached to the West Army (Ishida Mitsunari) the Tokugawa Hidetada army going on Higashiyama Road is repelling at Ueda castle. Toishi castle has been castle by Masayuki’s eldest son “Nobuyuki Sanada (Nobuyuki)” attached to the East Army (Tokugawa Ieyasu).
Then it is believed that the Toishi castle was abandoned for a while.
