Sakurabora Castle is a mountain castle in Gero city of Gifu Prefecture.
In general, it is said that “Mitsuki Naoyori” of Guardian of Hida Country was built as a battleground Daimyo, but details are unknown.
It was used as Miki’s main castle until “Miki Yoritsuna” unified Hida country in 1579, until Matsukura Castle was the main castle. When Honjo moved to Matsukura Castle, Sakurabora Castle became the castle of Matsukuraku Castle, and the heir of Jitsuna “Miki Nobutsuna” became the castle owner, but the shinra was killed in Matsukura Castle under suspicion of conspiracy.
According to Tensho 13 (1585), Miki altered Echizen ‘s “Sasa Narimasa” and he was attacked by Hideyoshi’ s life “Kanemori Nagachika” attacking castle. And when Hagiwara Suwa Castle was built, Sakurabora Castle became abandoned. Kanamori Nagachika drops Matsukura Castle, unifying Hida and starting a castle to make Takayama Castle a new castle.
At the present Sakurabora Castle Ruins there is an empty hill and ground foundation, and a wooden bill called “Sakurabora Castle Ruins” is built in the main ruins.
