Shishido Castle
The Shishido castle of the Shishido clan who dominated as the 10 thousand stone of the Mito clan by the transformation of Akita Sanesue.

Shishido Castle is a flat castle located in Kasama city, Ibaraki Prefecture.
In Kennin 3 (1203), in the beginning of the Kamakura period, the guardian of the Hitachi Mamoru “Hatta Tomoie” fourth son “Kasei” built a castle and claimed the Shishido.

When entering the Sengoku period, it was broken by Satake of Oda castle and entered under Satake’s control after that. Even though Mr. Shishido was incorporated under Satake ‘s name, it remained Shishido castle as it was. Shishido also followed this as “Satake Yoshinori” was transferred to Akita after the battle of Sekigahara.

Shishido Castle has been renewed from Akita “Akita Sanesue”. But entered with 50,000 Jewels. The second lord “Akita Toshisue” is transposed to the Mutsu country “Miharu clan” 2nd year (1645) and becomes the Mito clan territory.

In the Mito clan, 10,000 Jewels were dispensed to the younger brother “Matsudaira Yorikatsu” of the lord “Mito Mitsukuni”, and the Shishido clan was made to stand again. After that, until the end of the Tokugawa period they survived as a founding clan of the Mito clan. There are few remnants of Shishido castle at present. In addition, although it is a digression, the Shishido lord “Matsudaira Yoriyuki” was ordered to suppress the Tengu party, but failed this, and was ordered to commit suicide by cutting his stomach.
