Shichinohe Castle is a flatland-mountain castle located in Shichinohe Town, Kamikita Gun, Aomori Province. It is said that [Asakiyo], the fourth son of [Nanbu Mitsuyuki] moved to Shichinohe and named the castle Shichinohe Castle.
It is said that the castle was built by [Nanbu Masanaga] during the South and North Dynasties. It is also said that the castle was built by [Nanbu Masamitsu] during Muromachi Era. In the end of Sengoku Era, Tensho 19 year (1591), the castle master of Shichinohe Castle [Shichinohe Iekuni] belonged to Masazane’s side and was destroyed with Mr. Kunohe.
After that, Shichonohe was given to [Nanbu Nobuyoshi]’s third son [Nanbu Naomatsu]. Eiroku 7 year )1694), Shichinohe Masanobu gave the fifth clan master of Morioka Clan [Nanbu Yukinobu] 5000 stones, and he established Shichinohe Clan.
Bunzei 2 year (1819), Shichinohe was added 6000 stones, and became 11000 stones Daimyo. At the end of Shogun, he was participated in the [Ouuetsure Clan Alliance] but he was defeated by the new government army. The master [Nanbu Nobutomi] gave out his power to [Nobukata].
[Kashiwaba Park] is built on the current Shichinohe Castle ruins. Moats, soil, east gate are still left.
