Sunomata Castle is located in Ogaki City, Gifu Province. It was a very important place to Mr. Saito of Mino and Mr. Oda of Owari. Because of that, there were several battles happened on this place. It was famous for [Sunomata One Night Castle]. However there are a few different thoughts and theories.

Sunomata was not only the territory of Mr. Saito. Because it was near the river bank, the soil was weak, and it was very difficult to fix the fence. [Sakuma Nobumori] [Shibata Katsuie] who were asked to build the castle tried many times and finally succeeded.

When Nobunaga was stuck with selecting people for building the castle, Kinoshita Tokichiro valunterred. Tochiro assembled a part of fences, and moved to the castle built site.

On top of that it continued the construction work day and night. As a result, the foundation of Sunomata Castle was completed. It is said that Mr. Saito who noticed he already lost the best time to attack. It is also said that the castle was built over one night.

Mr. Saito also built a castle because of the importance of this place. And [Saito Toshitame] was the castle owner. Either way it seems that there was a castle in Sengoku Era in Sunomata. Currently, [One Night Castle Park] is built on the castle ruins, and [Simulated Tower] is built inside the park.
