Hara Castle
In the south of Shimahara Hanto, the famous castle where Shimahara Chaos occurred

Hara Castle is located in Minamiarima Town, Shimahara City, Nagazaki Province.
It is located in the south of Shimahara Hanto. It is said that the castle was built by [Arima Takazune] as the sub-castle of Hinoe Castle in Meio 5 year (1496).
Ganwa 2 year (1616), [Arima Hirunobu] accepted 43000 stones and transferred. Shigemasa abandoned [Hinoe Castle] dur the the One Country One Castle Policy and moved base to [Shimahara Castle]. At that time, it is considered that both Hinoe Castle and Hara Castle were abandoned.
Matsukura Shigemasa•Katsuie ivensted a lot in building the castle, so he gave that burdon to the citizen. Kanei 14 year (1637), finally [Shimaha Chaos] occurred.
Spirited power spread out not only to the Shimahara Hanto, but also to the Amakusa, and the rifting force was confined to the castle which was abandoned. It is said that the number was 37000 stones. After 3 months, the castle was finally attacked and everybody was killed.

On the other hand, Shogun army made lots of sacrifice, and it was one of the reasons of [Matsukura Katsuie] increased the spirited power. It is said that he was killed as the Daimyo who did wrong. After that, Hara Castle was abandoned.
After Mr. Matsukura was replaced, [Yamazaki Ieharu] was the leader but after that it became the territory of Shogun. Hara Castle ruins are appointed as the historic site and nowadays stones, empty moats are left.
