Sano Castle
Sano Nobuyoshi moved from Karasawa Mountain Castle by the oder of Tokugawa Shogun.
[Description]
Sano Castle is a flatland-mountain castle located in Wakamatsu Town, Sano City, Tochigi Province. Originally Mr. Sano’s main castle was [Karasawa Mountain Castle] but he moved to Sano Castle after [the Battle of Sekigahara].
In order to welcome [Hojo Ujitada] as an adopted son, Mr. Sano stayed in Odawara Castle during Odawara Battle. When Hojo Ujimasa•Ujiteru were defeated, Mr. Sano was about to destroy. [Sano Fusatsuna] served Toyotomi Hideyoshi and escapted from being replaced.
Keicho 5 year (1600), when the Battle of Sekigahara occurred, [Sano Nobuyoshi] belonged to Tokugawa Ieyasu’s side therefore he was awarded 35000 stones. After that, Keicho 7 year (1602) he moved the main castle from [Karasawa Mountain Castle] to [Sano Castle] by the order of Tokugawa Shogun.
Keicho 12 year (1607), Nobuyoshi also prepared the town under that castle while building the castle. However, Keicho 19 year )1614), Mr. Sano was replaced suddenly, and Sano Castle was also abandoned. In addition, the reason of the replacement was unsure.
Bending wheels, moats, soil are still left on Sano Castle ruins.
