Nishio Castle
After the Battle of Okehazama until the end of Shogun, it was ruled by Fudai Daimyo.
[Description]
Nishio Castle is a flatland-mountain castle located in Kinjyo Town, Nishio City, Aichi Province.The castle built year is unknown, but it is said that [Nishijo Castle] which was built by Ashikaga Yoshiuji was the beginning of Nishio Castle.
When entering Sengoku Era, the castle was ruled by Mr. Imagawa, and when Imagawa Yoshimoto died at [the Battle of Okehazama], [Tokugawa Ieyasu] occupied the castle and appointed [Sakai Masachika] as the castle officer. After that, Tensho 13 year (1585), the castle was greatly renovated by Masachika’s second son [Sakai Shigetada].
Tensho 18 year (1590), when Ieyasu moved to Kanto, Nishio Castle was ruled by [Tanaka Yoshimasa]. Keicho 5 year (1600), Tokugawa Ieyasu established his name at the Battle of Sekigahara. And the next year (1601), [Honda Yasutoshi] accepted 20000 stones and became the first master of Nishio Clan.
After that, Kanei 15 year (1638), [Outa Sukemune] accepted 35000 stones and then Ii Naoyoshi, Mr. Mashiyama, Mr. Doi, and Mr. Miura were also awarded. Meiwa 1 year (1764), [Matsudaira Norisuke] transfered and [Matsudaira Noritsune]’s period started until the end of Shogun.
[Nishio City History Park] is being built in the current Nishio Castle.
