[Description]
Annaka Castle is a flatland castle located in Annaka, Annaka City, Gunma Province.
It is said that the castle was built by [Annaka Echizen Guardian Tadamasa] in Eiroku 2 year (1559).

Mr. Annaka followed [Uesugi Norimasa] , and [Nagano Narimasa] of Mibowa Castle and Kamiizumi Nobutsuna also supported Mr. Uesugi. [Annaka Tadamasa] was finally defeated by Takeda Shingen at West Ueno Attack.

After Shingen died, Katsuyori took over Mr. Takada. However in Tensho 3 year (1575), he was greatly defeated by Oda Nobunaga at [the Battle of Nagashino]. Annaka Tadanari died at this battle and the castle was abandoned.

Tensho 18 year (1590), Tokugawa Ieyasu gave [Ii Naokatsu (Naotsugu)] 30000 stones. Naokatsu prepared the town under the castle. After that, he built the base of Annaka Clan. When the second generation of Mr. Ii transferred, this place was ruled by Mr. Itakura again until Meiji Restoration.

There is almost nothing left on Annaka Castle ruins. Annaka Castle stone monument is built by the entrance of Annaka Primary School. In addition, Annaka is the brithplace of Nishijima Jyo.
