Narumi Castle is a flatland-mountain castle located in Midori District, Nagoya City, Aichi Province.It was built by Yasuhara Munenori, the vassal of [Ashikaga Yoshimitsu] during Ouei, Muromachi Period.
When entering Sengoku Era, it was ruled by [Oda Nobuhide], for the purpose of preparing for [Imagawa Yoshimoto], [Yamaguchi Noritsugu] served as the castle owner. However, Nobuhide died soon after and he left Oda Nobunaga, and went back to sleep at Imagawa Yoshimoto’s place. At that time, apart from Narumi Castle, Mr. Imagawa also took over Kutsukake Castle and Oudata Castle.
Tenmon 22 year (1553), Nobunaga attacked Narumi Castle and it fell down. After that, Yamaguchi Noritsugu and Noriyoshi was defeated by Nobunaga’s strategy, and after they died, [Okabe Motonobu] was appointed as the castle owner.
Eiroku 3 year (1560), Yoshimoto gathered army and attacked Owari, which triggered [the battle of Okehazama] between Nobunaga. Yoshimoto was defeated. After that, the castle owner of Narumi Castle escapted.
When Motonobu left, the castle became Mr.Oda’s again. Sakuma Nobumori•Nobuhide served as castle owner. It is said that the castle was abandoned at the end of Tensho Period. Nowadays, there is almost nothing left on the castle ruins, but [Narumishiroato Park] is being built.
