Suemori Castle is a flatland-mountain castle located in Shiroyama Town, Chikusa District, Nagoya City, Aichi Province.
Tenmon 17 year (1548), Oda Nobunaga built the castle for the purpose of preparing for Matsudaira Tadahiro and Imagawa Yoshimoto.
Suemori Castle was ruled by Nobunaga’s second younger brother [Nobuyuki]. Combined with Moriyama Castle of [Oda Nobumitsu], it was a very important defensive castle to defend the enemies from the east. Tenmon 20 year (1551), when Nobuhide died, Nobuyuki betrayed Nobunaga with his competent vassals [Hayashi Hidesada] [Shibata Katsuie].
Koji 2 year (1556), Nobuyuki was defeated at the Battle of Ino. However, the next year (1557), he planned to betray Nobunaga again and Shibata Katsuie reported to Nobunaga. Therefore Nobuyuki was killed at Kiyosu Castle. After that, the castle was absent and finally it became abandoned.
Suemori Castle is a flatland-mountain castle surrounded by moats, and nowadays, only empty moat is left.
