[Description]
Yagyu Castle is a flatland-mountain castle located in Yagyushimo Town, Nara City, Nara Province.The castle built year is unknown, but [Yagyu Muneyoshi (Seki Syusai)], the master during Sengoku Era was the one who established Yagyu Shin Kageryu.
Muneyoshi’s teacher was Kamiizumi Hidetsuna (Yoshitsuna), who ruled [Kamiizumi Caslte] and [Ougo Castle]. He had a great number of followers.
Muneyoshi initially followed [Matsue Hisahide] but Hidahide was destroyed by Oda Nobunaga. However, when Toyotomi Hideyoshi became the country leader, he carried out [Taikokenchi], and the whole Yagyu family was destroyed.
Everyone came to meet Ieyasu at Kyoto during [Tokugawa Ieyasu] Period. Seki Syusai’s youngest son [Yagyu Munenori] won the trust of Tokugawa Hidetada.
Munenori divided his territories to his sons, therefore, Mr. Yagyu family became the competent subordinates of Tokugawa family. Kanmon 8 year (1688), the master added 1700 stones, and Munenori accepted 10000 stones and returned.
After that, Mr Yagyu rules this area for 13 generations until Meiji Era.
