The residence of Mori Yoshinari, the competent subordinate of Oda Nobunaga, where Ranmaru•Boumaru•Rikimaru were born.
[Description]
Kane Mountain Castle (Mino Kane Mountain Castle) is a mountain castle located in Kane Mountain, Kani City, Gifu Province. Tenmon 6 year (1537), it was built by [Saito Masayoshi] and it was initially called Uhou Castle.
Tenmon 17 year (1548), when Masayoshi accepted the invitation from [Toki Yoritou] and went to Kukuri Castle, he was killed at the party and his adoptive father Dousan took revenge for him. It is said that Dousan who was dissatisfied with Masayoshi did something behind.
Although the castle owner was absent for a while after Masayoshi was attacked, Oda Nobunaga defeated [Saito Tatsuoki (Dousan’s grandson)] from Mino and moved the main castle to Inaba Mountain Castle, he renamed here [Gifu Castle]. Eiroku 8 year (1565), [Mori Yoshinari] became the castle owner of Uhou Castle, and Uhou Castle was renamed Kane Mountain Castle.
Genki 1 year (1570), Yoshinari died at the Battle of Usa Mountain Castle in Omi, and his son [Mori Yoshitaka] also died at Tezutsu Mountain Castle. Therefore, his second son [Mori Nagayoshi] inheritaed Kane Mountain Castle.
Tensho 10 year (1582), when Nagayoshi transferred to Kawanaka Island, his younger brother [Mori Naritoshi (Mori Ranmaru)] became the owner of Kane Mountain Castle. Naritoshi died at [Honno Temple Chaos] at the same year, and Nagayoshi escapted to Kane Mountain Castle.
Tensho 12 year (1584), when [the Battle of Komaki•Nagakute] occurred, Nagayoshi died and Yoshinari’s youngest brother (the sixth son) [Tadamasa] became the new castle owner of Kane Mountain Castle.
Keicho 5 year (1600), when Tadamasa transferred to Kawanaka Island, Kane Mountain Castle belonged to [Ishikawa Sadakiyo]. Because Ishikawa appointed Inu Mountain Castle as main castle, Kane Mountain Castle became abandoned. A part of bending wheels, soil, well, moats, stones are left. Stone monument is built on Honmaru.
Furthermore, it is said that when Kane Mountain Castle became abandoned, the materials were used to renovate Inu Mountain Castle.
