[Description]
Shobata Catle is located in the Delta between Nikko River and Miyake River in Shobata Town, Aisai City, Aichi Province. It is said it was built by [Oda Nobusada (Nobunaga’s grandfather)] in Eisei Period.
Tenmon 1 year (1532), [Oda Nobuhide (Nobunaga’s father)] attacked and got [Nagoya Castle] from Imagawa Ujitoyo, and he moved to Nagoya Castle, and appointed his vassal as the castle officer.
In addition, it is said that Nobunaga was born in [Shobata Castle], and it is also said he was born in [Nagoya Castle]. But according to [the Journal of Bishu Old Castle], it is recorded that Nobunaga was born in Shobata Castle.
After that, Nobuhide moved to [Furuwatari Castle] and gave Nagoya Castle to Nobunaga.
Koji 1 year (1555), after Nobuhide died Nobunaga took over the family. And [Oda Nobutomo] was destroyed and Kiyosu Castle were taken, at that time they moved from Nagoya Castle to Kiyosu Castle. Because this movement, Shobata Castle became gradually decreased and finally it was abandoned.
At that time Shobata Castle was surrounded by pavilian. Nowadays, [Shobata Castle Site] and monument are built.
