[Description]
Bodai Mountain Castle is a mountain castle located in Bodai Mountain, Tarui Town, Fuwa City, Gifu Province.
t is said that the castle was rebuilt by by Takenaka Hanbei (Takenaka Shigeharu)’s father Shigemoto after he destroyed [Iwade Danjyo].
Mr. Takenaka followed Mr. Saito, the master of Mimo Country, and the title continued to 3 generations. Eiroku 7 year (1565), Takenaka Hanbei successfully attacked Inaba Mountain Castle with only 16 vassals.
However, it is said that later he accepted the apology of Ryuko and returned the castle. After that though he kept is secret for a while, he became Hideyoshi’s vassal and supported Hideyoshi.
Hideyoshi appointed him as the local chief officer of Chugoku. In Tensho 7 year (1579), Hanbei died at the army of Miki Castle. His son [Shigemoto] became the castle owner.
Keicho 5 year (1600), Shigemoto belonged to the East Army at the Battle of Sekigahara and he provided [Tokugawa Ieyasu] Bodai Mountain Castle. After the battle, he moved to [Takenakashi Jinya] so that Bodai Mountain Castle became abandoned. Nowadays, bending wheels, moats and soils are left on the ruins.
