Nagashino Castle
Where Oda•Tokugawa joint army fought with Takeda Katsuyori
[Description]
Nagashino Castle is a flatland castle located in Nagashino, Shinshiro City, Aichi Province.
It is well known as the place where [the Battle of Nagashino] took place in Tensho 3 year (1575).
The castle was built by [Suganuma Masasada] in Eisei 5 year (1508). When entering Sengoku Era, it belonged to Tokugawa Ieyasu, but in Kenki 2 year (1571), it was attacked violently by [Amano Kagetsura].
Although it escaped from being falling down, the castle was opened after being persuaded by [Tamine Suganuma] who had the same family with Mr. Takeda. After that, the castle belonged to Takeda Shingen. Kenki 4 year (1573), [Takeda Shingen] carried out the Nishigama Operation and invaded to Toutomi River and Mi River. But he was died in the middle of the battle.
Catching this opportunity, Ieyasu quickly attacked Nagashino Castle, when castle fell, they caught the castle owner Okudaira Nobumasa and prepared to attacked Mr. Takeda’s family. And in Tensho 3 year (1575), [Takeda Katsuyori], who took over Shingen, attacked Nagashino Castle with 15000 soldiers, and [the Battle of Nagashino] started from there.
Being attacked by Oda•Tokugawa joint army, Mr. Takeda was defeated. On the other hand, [Okudaira Nobumasa], who violently attacked in Siege, built a new castle [Shinshiro Castle] due to Nagashino Castle was badly damaged.
The remains of the castle have moat, bending wheel, soil base, stone, etc. the natural river moat leaving a remarkable appearance. Furthermore, Nagashino Castle is one of the 100 famous castles in Japan.
