Nerima Castle
It was the sub-castle of Mr. Toshima of Shakujii Castle located inside of Toshima Garden
[Description]
Nerima Castle is a flatland-mountain castle located inside of [Toshima] Amusement Park in Kuo Mountain, Nerima District, Kyoto. The castle built year is unknown, although it is said that it was built as a sub-castle of Mr. Toyoshima of Shakujii Castle.
[Yano Shōgen], the vassal of Mr. Toyoshima was appointed as the castle owner. Bunmei 8 year (1476), Mr. Toyoshima went into fought with Mr. Yamauchi and Mr. Uesugi of Ougigawa in [the Chaos of Nagao Kageharu].
The next year, Bunmei 9 year (1477), the vassal of Mr. Oujigawa Uesugi [Outa Douka] came out of Edo Castle and attacked [Nerima Castle]. On the other hand, Mr. Toyoshima sent [Toshima Yasutsune] of Shakujii Castle and [Toshima Yasuaki] of Nerima Castle, and the two armies fought fiercely in Egota.
In this battle, Mr. Toshima suffered a crushing defeat, most of the majorities under the castle owner [Toshima Yasuaki] were killed, and the master Yasutsune escaped to Shakujii Castle. After that the battler become fierce and finally Yasutsune abandoned the castle. The information after that is unknown.
It is said that along with the collapse of Mr. Toshima, both Shakujii Castle and Nerima Castle became abandoned. The current castle ruins were originally developed as [Castle Ruins Park] but then it opened as an amusement park [Toshima Garden] from Mr. Toshima’s name.
