[Introduction of Moriyama Castle (Owari)]
Moriyama Castle is a flatland castle located in Moriyama District market, Nagoya City, Aichi Province.
Daie 1 year (1521), when Imagawa Ujitoyo built [Nagoya Castle], [Matsudaira Nobusada] built Moriyama Castle in order to prepare for Obata Castle and Kawamura Castle.
It was the residence of Nobumitsu, the younger brother of Oda Nobuhide in Tenmon 4 year (1535), but [Oda Nobutomo] of Kiyosu Castle was destroyed by the joint army of Oda Nobunaga and Nobumitsu. As a result, Nobunaga became the owner of Kiyosu Castle and gave [Nagoya Castle] to Hidemitsu.
In addition, Hidemitsu’s younger brother [Oda Nobutsugu] entered Moriyama Castle. However, since Nobunaga’s younger brother [Hidetaka] was killed by Nobutsugu’s vassall [Suga Saizo], Nobutsugu ran away because he was worried that someone would take revenge. After Nobutsugu left, Nobunaga’s brother [Nobutoki] took over the castle. After he was killed by Nobutsugu’s vassal [Tsunoda Singo] and other forces, Moriyama Castle lost its owner again.

Although the absence of the castle owner continued for a while, Nobutsugu was allowed to return soon and he became the castle owner again. Tensho 2 year (1574), Nobutsugu died at Nagashima Ikko Ikki battle, and it is said that at that time Moriyama Castle became abandoned. It is also said that it was abandoned after [Komaki Nagakute battle].
Nowadays, the castle became [Hosho Temple] and castle monument is built. There are some moats and soil base are left.
