[Introduction of Yoita Castle]
Motoyoita Castle is a mountain castle located in Yoita, Yoita Town, Nagaoka Citry, Niigata Province.It was the residence of Mr. Naoe, the famous soldier of the guardian Mr. Nagao in Echigo. Originally Motoyoita Castle was his main castle, but it was newly built and moved to the present place in the era of Tensho when [Naoe Kagetsuna] dominated the country.

At that time Motoyoita Castle was abandoned, and it is unknown whether ti was used for a while. [Otate Chaos] broke out among Mr. Uesugi in Nobutsuna, Naoe Kagetsuna who belonged to Kagekatsu’s side as well as 山岸光祐 of Kurataki Castle and [Saito Tomonobu] of Akanta Castle, who also belonged to the same party, attacked Honjo Hidetsuna of Tochio Castle who belonged to Kagetora’s side.

After this chaos, Kagetsuna, the owner of Yoita Castle who was dissatisfied with the award, being killed by [Mori Hidehiro] at [Haruhi Mountain Castle]. The Naoe’s family was discontinued because there was no legitimate son, and Kagekatsu felt pity of the discontinue of Mr. Naoe so that he survived the house by making [Higuchi Kanetsugu] marry a ship of widow.

After that Yoita Castle was used as the residence of [Naoe Kanetsugu], but the master of Uesugi Kagekatsu was transferred to Aizu in Keicho 3 year (1958) so the castle became abandoned. Nowadays, some curved tracks, moats, soil base, well trace, Kiyomitsu which was used by the ship are still left in the castle ruins.
