[Introduction of Toragozen Mountain Castle]
Toragozen Mountain Castle is a castle on the mountain of 224 meters which is also called Hachihama Mountain. It is located in Nagahama City, Shiga Province. Oda Nobunaga developed this area to attack Aza Hisamasa and Nagahisa, the father and son of Odani Castle, and appointed [Kinoshita Tokichiro Hideyoshi (Hashiba Hideyoshi)] as the guardian.
Toragozen Mountain extends to north and south, it was built in the center of Oda Nobunaga’s team as well as the vassals. Nobunaga gradually narrowed Odani Castle and in Tensho 1 year (1573) it finally fell.
Kinoshita Tokichiro, the former officer of Mr. Azai, was given the name of [Hashiba Hideyoshi]. Meanwhile, Toragozen Mountain castle lost its function along with the destruction of Mr. Azai and became abandoned. Nowadays, Oda Nobunaga, Shibata Katsuya and other Oda vassals’ team ruins are still left in the castle ruins.
