[Introducion of Iwasaki Castle]
Iwasaki Castle is a flatland-mountain Castle located in Iwasaki Town, Nisshin City, Aichi Province during Sengoku Era.
Castle built year is unknown. It was the residence of Oda Nobuhide (Nobunaga’s father) of Owari during the beginning of Sengoku Era, as the sub-castle of [Shobata Castle].
Kyoroku 2 year (1529), [Matsudaira Kiyoyasu (Tokugawa Ieyasu’s grandfather)], who was the owner of Okazaki Castle, attacked and won Iwasaki Castle, which had been owned by [Arakawa Yorimune] who belonged to Oda Nobunaga. However, Kiyoyasu was assassinated by a vassal called [Moriyama Kuzure], and Mikawaze pulled soldiers from Owari.
During that period, [Niwa Ujikiyo] who belonged to Mr. Matsudaira moved to Iwasaki Castle. Later he served [Oda Nobunaga] and survived in Sengoku Era. [Komasa Nagakute Battle] occurred in Tensho 12 year (1584), [Niwa Ujitsugu] attended the battle on behalf of Tokugawa Ieyasu, and defended the castle by Toyotomi Hideyoshi who squad invaded Mikawa internally.
However, due to being outnumbered, the castle fell to a great extent, and Ujitsugu lost his younger brother Ujishige, but he achieved to exhaust Hideyoshi army. After that he gained a number of brilliant military success and the trust from Ieyasu was also increased.
Kecho 5 year (1600), [Niwa Ujitsugu] attended the battle of Sekigahara as the east army of Tokugawa’s side. His achievement was recognized by everyone and he was honored as Daimyo of 10000 stones of Ibo, Mikawa Country. At that time, it is said that [Iwasaki Castle] was abandoned.
Nowadays, Artificial Tenshu is built in Iwasaki Castle ruins. In addition, [Iwasaki Castle Garden] is planned to be built in this area. As the remains of the castle, there are bending wheels, squirrels, soil bridges, building traces, well traces, etc left.
