Tashiro Castle
Introduction of Tashiro Castle
Tashiro Castle was the residence of Mr. Kuki, a former Shima navy. It is now located in Iwakura town, Toba city, Mie province.
It is said that in Tenmon Ten Year (1541), the 4th generation of Mr. Kuki [Yoshitaka] built the castle in this area; But it is also said that the castle was built by [Tashiro Hidariuma Nobusuke], one of the former 13 Shima scoundrels.
Yoshitaka used to live in [Nakiri Castle], a castle located in Daiozaki, but suddenly he conquered Tashiro. After that he named [Tashiro Castle] as the main castle and Nakiri Castle as the sub-castle.
Eiroku Three Year (1560), the 13 Shima scoundrels attacked Tashiro and Nakiri Castle, and they successfully kicked out Mr. Kuki from Shima. Meanwhile, the leader [Kuki Yoshitaka] escaped from Shima and followed Oda Nobunaga who was from Owari•Mino.
Eiroku 12 year (1569), Nobunaga launched the army that attack Ise, the father and son of [KitabatakeTomonori,tomofusa] were descended, and Yoshitaka was active as the Oda navy officer.
Yoshitaka settled at Toba Castle as the main base, after which he dominated Shima mainly around this castle. Tashiro Castle is believed to have been abandoned at that period. Nowadays, [Kuki Iwakura Shrine] is built on Tashiro ruins and only the foundation of the castle can be seen.
