Kuroi Castle
Akai Naomasa, who resisted Tanba Conquest of Akechi Mitsuhide, lived in it.

Kuroi Castle used to stand in Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture. It also called Hogetsu Castle.
It was built by Akamatsu Sadanori in Kemmu period. In the Warring States period, Akai Naomasa lived in it.
Naomasa was a good commander. He Named himself Akuemon and extended his territory in Tamba region. Meanwhile in Kinki Region, Hosokawa Harumoto and his former loved retrainer Miyoshi Nagayoshi fought with each other. Naomasa attended the battle to help Harumoto.
Then, he fought with Matsunaga Hisahide, a retainer of the Miyoshi family, again and again. In the 8th year of the Eiroku period (1565), he killed Matsunaga Nagayori, a brother of Matsunaga Hisahide, and strengthen his reign in Tamba Province.
In the center of Japan, Oda Nobunaga gradually extended his territory, so Naomasa followed the Oda family. However, Yamana Suketoyo, who followed the Oda family, too, attacked Hikami District. Naomasa repelled him and attacked Suketoyo’s Castle.
He got Takeda Castle In Tajima Province and invaded Konosumiyama Castle, which was Suketoyo’s home base. At that time Suketoyo asked Nobunaga for help. Nobunaga ordered his man Akechi Mitsuhide to wipe out in Tamba and Tajima.
Mitsuhide prepared for a fight and attacked Kuroi Castle. Naomasa was besieged and Hatano Hideharu from Yakami Castle attacked Mitsuhide behind his army. Mitsuhide temporally went back to Sakamoto Castle.
After that, Mitsuhide attacked Tamba Province again with Hosokawa Fujitaka from Tango. His army surrounded Yakami Castle for one year. Finally, Hatano Hideharu starved to surrender. Two months later, Kuroi Castle surrendered, too.
In addition, Akai Naomasa died of illness just before the battle, so his brother, Akai Yukiie commanded the army. Mitsuhide had his man Saito Toshimitsu rule Hikami District. In Kuroi Castle, Hideyoshi’s brother Hashiba Hidenaga became the head.
After that, Hideyoshi’s man Horio Yoshiharu became the head. In the 12th year of the Tensho period (1584), Battle of Koma and Nagakute happened between Hashiba Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Akai Naomasa’s brother Tokinao attacked Kuroi Castle and was besieged in it as a Tokugawa side army.
It was the last information on Kuroi Castle. It might be destroyed.
