Ashikaga Yoshiaki chased Mr. Hara and took Oyumi Castle.
[Description]
Oyumi Castle is a flatland castle located in Chuo District, Chiba City, Chiba Province.
It is said that the castle was built by Mr. Hara of Shimosa during the beginning of Kamakura Period.
When entering Sengoku Period, [Ashikaga Yoshiaki] received the reinforcement from Mariyatsu Nobukiyo] of Shimosa, and attacked [Hara Tanetaka• Toratane] and occupied Oyumi Castle.
In order to suppress Kanto, Ashikaga Yoshiaki expanded his influence. Tenmon 7 year (1538), Satomi Yoshitaka and Mariyatsu Nobumasa entered Konodai
Castle at 10000 soldiers, fighting with Hojo Ujitsuna and Ujiyasu. At that time, Mr. Chiba and Mr. Hara went back to sleep at Mr. Hojo’s place.
At the beginning Oyumi army was dominate, but gradually pushed by Hojo who is superior in number. Yoshiaki’s younger brother [Motoyori] and son [Yoshizumi] died. When hearing the news he went back to Mr. Hojo and he himself also died.
Satomi Yoshitaka and Mariyatsu Nobumasa retreated quickly after hearing that. Hojo attacked [Oyumi Castle], and continued to attack [Mariyatsu Castle]. Mariyatsu Nobumasa surrendered and [Mariyatsu Nobutaka] who belonged to Mr. Hojo became the head of Mr. Mariyatsu.
[Mr. Hara], the vassal of Mr. Chiba became the castle owner of Oyumi Castle again. Mr. Hara abandoned Oyumi Castle, and built a new castle in the north of Oyumi Castle. However, Tensho 18 year (1590), when Toyotomi Hideyoshi attacked Hojo, Mr. Chiba and Mr. Hara were destroyed by Toyotomi army.
When Tokugawa Ieyasu united the country, the Oyumi Castle built by Mr Hara was used as Jinya. Nowadays, there is almost nothing left on the castle ruins, only soil base can be seen.
