[Description]
Odate Castle is a flatland castle located in Odate City, Akita Province. It is also called Katsura Castle. After Okushu Battle broke out by Minamoto Yorihisa, [Mr. Asari] became the local leader. However, it is considered that Odate Castle was only a size of pavilion at that time. And it is said that the castle was built by [Asari Katsuyori] in Tensho 10 year (1582).
When entering Sengoku Era, Hinai became the battlefield of Mr. Asari, Mr. Nanbu, Mr. Akita and Mr. Tsurugawa. After [Katsuyori], the head of Mr. Asari died, [Asari Yorihira] inherited but he died in Keicho 3 year (1598). Therefore, Mr. Asari was destroyed. After that, Mr. Akita ruled the place.
Keicho 5 year (1600), Mr Akita was transferred to Hitachi Country, and [Satake Yoshinobu] entered Kubota Castle. Odate Castle was used as the sub-castle of Mr. Satake. It was damaged by [One Country One Castle Policy].
[Oba Yoshinari] was the 1st castle officer, and [Oba Yoshiyasu] was the 2nd, the 4th castle officer [Satake Yoshitake] established Odate Shrine. It was continued to be the sub-castle of Mr. Satake throughout Edo Period.
[Katsura Castle Park] is built on the current castle ruins. Soil and moats are left.
