Nirayama Castle is Hirayama Castle from late Muromachi period to Sengoku period, which was in Izunokuni city Shizuoka prefecture.
Although the time of the castle formation is not clear, it is supposed that the vassal “Nokami Toyama” vassal of Horigoe Kubou “Ashikaga Matsumoto” built a castle during the civilized year (1469 – 1486).
Nirayama Castle is a castle of “Houjousoun” which attacked and destroyed the second generation feudal lord Horigoe Kubou “Ashikaga Chachamaru” in 5th year of Entoku (1491). Since then, as the center of the governance of Izu continued to be based in Nirayama Castle. Even after defeating Sagami’s Odawara castle owner “Fujiyori Oumori” and unifying the Sagami countries, Hayagumo was based in Nirayama Castle.
Soun’s elder son ‘Ujitsuna’ has expanded the territory of Hojo to a part of Sagami and Musashi, and began to expand its territory to the northern part of Kanto in the era of “Hojo Ujiyasu” who succeeded the Ujitusna. When Ujiyasu died and Ujimasa succeeded him, Toyotomi Hideyoshi issued the army of “Odawara conquest” in Tensho 18th year (1590).
In this battle, Ujiyasu and 4 Men “Ujinori” sieged the castle and Hidetsugu Toyotomi struck the attack oon Nirayama Castle for about 100 days. However, the castle was capitulated and the Ujinori moved to Odawara Castle. When Hojo Ujimasa and Ujiteru brothers surrendered to Hideyoshi, the land of the Kanto was given to “Tokugawa Ieyasu” and the vassal “Nobinari Naito” was the feudal lord but it was transferred to Keichou 6th year (1601), and Nirayama Castle became an abandoned castle.
