[Description]
Kinzan Castle is a mountain castle built at the summit of Kinzan, which stands in the middle of Oda City in Gunma Prefecture.
It is said that it was built the Nitta family’s “Iwamatsu Iezumi” in the first year of Bunmei Era (1469).
In the first year of Kyouroku Era (1528), “(Yokase) Yuranarishige and Kunishige” took the “Kinzan Castle” from Iwamatsu and boasted power in this area. It seems that Kinzan Castle in the Sengoku period was a solid castle such as rejecting Uesugi Kenshin’s attack 5 times.

Tensho 18th year (1590), At the end of Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s Houjou conquest by entering Odawara Castle as Hojo’s side, fought agaisnt the Toyotomi’s army. He left a vassal in Kinzan Castle, but it is thought that Toyotomi’s “Maeda Toshiie” and other forces attacked and dropped out, then castle became abandoned.
In addition, Kinzan Castle is counted as one of the “Kanto Seven National Castles” and it is also certified as “Japan 100 Great castle”.
The remains of the castle are left with stonewall, temporary pasting, bending wheel, outer citadel, and ruins of Outermost region of the castle.
