[Description]
Akechi Castle is a typical mountain castle located in Setanaga Mountain, Kani City, Gifu Province. Kanei 1 year (1342), [Toki Yorikane] built the castle and named it Akechi.
After that, it was ruled by Mr. Akechi for generations, but in September Koji 2 year (1556), it was attacked by [Saito Yoshitatsu] and [Akechi Mitsuyasu (Mitsuhide’s uncle)] defended with 870 soldiers. However, the number of Yoshitatus’s army was too large and gradually they broke the main points and the castle fell down on the second day.
Before Mitsuyasu killed himself, he gave Mr. Akechi to his nephew [Akechi Mitsuhide] and told him to rebuild Mr. Akechi. The wife of Yoshitatus’s father [Saito Dosan] left Mr. Akechi, and Mr. Akechi was attacked.
Meanwhile, Akechi Castle was abandoned and it never been rebuilt. The remains of the castle are relatively clean, such as the main trace, bending wheel and foundation.
