[Description]
Mr. Sanada Main Castle is a mountain castle located in Sanada Town, Chiisagata Town, Nagano Province. It is also the hometown of Mr. Sanada.
It is considered that the castle on the top of the mountain was used at special time and at normal time only the pavilion at the mountain foot was used. In addition, [Tenpaku Castle] and [Tonoshiro Mountain Castle] were also prepared.

The castle was built by [Sanada Yukitaka (Yukitsuna)] during Tenmon Period. Tenmon 10year (1541), the joint army of Takeda Nobutora of Kai, Suwa Yorishige of Suwa, and Murakami Yoshikiyo of Shinano Katsurao Castle fought with Mr. Unno and Mr. Unno was defeated.

[Sanada Yukitaka] whose territory was conquered escaped to Mr. Nagano of Minowa Castle of Kozuke Country with [Unno Munetsuna]. [Murakami Yoshikiyo] ruled Chiisagata Town, he selected Toishi Castle as the base to rule the place.

After that, Yukitaka was close to Mr. Takada, and he chased his father Nobutora to Suruga. He became the vassal of Shingen (Harunobu), the master of Mr. Takeda.

Tenmon 20 year (1551), Yukitaka accepted the order from Shingen and took [Toishi Castle]. After that, Yikitaka, Nobutsuna, Masayuki those 3 generations prepared for the main castle of Mr. Sanada and its sub-castle.

When Sanada Masayuki became the master of Mr. Sanada, he moved the main castle to [Ueda Castle]. It is considered that Mr. Sanada Main Castle was abandoned. Bending wheels, soils are left on the current castle ruins.
