Outa Castle is a flatland castle located in Outa, Waga Mountain City, Waga Mountain Province.Outa Castle has a long history, it is said that it was built as a purpose to protect Shrine by [Ki Toshitsura] during Entoku Period.
When entering Sengoku Era, it became the residence of Mr. Outa. Tensho 4 year (1576), [Outa Hidarichika] renovated the castle. Tensho 5 year (1577), when [Oda Nobunaga] launched Kichu Battle, Hidarichika belonged to Nobunaga’s side and helped him to attack Saika Magoichi (Suzuki Magoichi). However, Oda army was greatly defeated.
After that, though Saika Magoichi attacked Outa Castle, he could not win it. Therefore, it is said they finally went into piece. Tensho 13 year (1585), [Oda Nobunaga] died at HonnoTemple Chaos and [Hashiba Hideyoshi] attacked kichu, the joint army of Outa group, Saika group and Negoro group came one of another and Negoro Castle was burnt.
[Outa Castle] as the next aim fell down later. In addition, Saika Magoichi belonged to Hideyoshi’s said at that time.
Outa Castle was abandoned when Hideyoshi attacked Kichu. Nowadays, development is carried out on the site so that almost nothing left. Only some base trace and Honmaru trace are left. It is said that Rikou Temple is the remaining of Honmaru of Outa Castle.
