[Introduction of Shimura Castle]
Shimura Castle is a flatland-mountain castle located in 2 Chome, Shimura, Itabashi District, Tokyo.It is said that the castle was built by Mr. Shimura, who belonged to the family of Mr. Toshima, thought the built year is unsure.

Kosho 1 year (1455), Mr. Chiba [Mr. Chiba of Musashi] was attacked by Mr. Makuwari at Kyotoku Chaos, Mr. Chiba escaped to [Akatsuka Castle] and [Chiba Nobutane] entered Shimura Castle. Daiei 4 year (1524), Shimura Castle fell down by being attacked by [Houjo Ujitsuna] of Odawara Castle. After that, the castle was dominated by Mr. Houjo.

Tensho 18 year (1590), Toyotomi Hideyoshi launched an army of Houjo (Battle of Odawara), all the castles of Mr Houjo from Kanto gradually fell down. It is said that at that time Shimura Castle also became abandoned.

On the current castle ruins, a primary school of Tachishi, Itabara District is built in Honmaru, and Shimura Kumano Shrine is built in Ninomaru. Only some empty moats are left.
