Komoro Castle
Japan’s important cultural property. The third entrance of Kaikoen
[Explanation]
Komoro Castle was the territory of Kansuke Yamamoto when Shingen Takeda was running Shinshu during the Sengoku period.
During Nobunaga Oda’s period it was owned by Kazumasu Takigawa, but through Honnoji-no-hen (the incident at the Honnoji Temple) and being defeated at the battle of Kanna river against Ujimasa Hojo who was ruling the Kanto region, he retreated to Ise Nagashima Castle.
Under Toyotomi administration, Hideyoshi Toyotomi’s retainer, Hidehisa Sengoku, became the owner of the castle and he improved the castle and organized the town of the castle.
When Toyotomi administration collapsed and Hidehisa Sengoku became the East troops (Ieyasu’s side) at the battle of Sekigahara, Hidehisa continued to be the owner for 50 thousand koku.
After that the second generation of the Sengoku family moved to Shinshu Ueda, and other families became the owner, and eventually the owner became Yasushige Makino.
The Makino family survived through the Edo period, and continued to rule the region until Meiji restoration.
